Science Fair Central
Why a Science Fair Project?
Science Fair Projects are part of the 8th grade science curriculum. Throughout the project a student will chose an idea, create an experimental question, hypothesis, and procedural plan. Students will be doing real science as they create and complete a lab while testing a variable. Once the student has done the research portion of the project he/she will then follow their lab procedures, collect data, examine results and write a report of their project.

Headlines from the 2007 Science Fair
  • 13 Student Projects from our school were entered into the LA County Science Fair! (That is the school limit!)
  • 11 of those projects received and invitation to come back the next day and do a 10 minute oral interview/presentation with panel of 3-6 judges!
  • All of the 11 projects were recognized at the awards ceremony!
  • Our School received two 1st place awards, three 2nd place awards, and two 3rd place awards. This is amazing, as there were over 30 projects is each of the categories that these students competed in! All students who placed moved on to the California State Science Fair!
  • This year two of our students placed at the State Science Fair. Matt West looking at strength of solders and Filippo Velli looking at the rotational period of the sun based on the observation of sun spots.
